Audiophiles love their oxygen-free copper cables and expensive equipment and often proclaim that MP3 is far inferior to lossless audio. (And, that a needle dragged over tiny grooves in vinyl is the best.) Many tests have been done, but almost all of them have the issue that participants either outright knew which version was which… Read More: MP3s and Audiophiles »
Back in June 2020, The Outer Worlds was released for the Nintendo Switch. In September 2021, I’ve bought it and played it every once in a while until I finished it sometime in the middle of 2022. Despite also owning the Expansion Pass, I’ve never completed the additional quests. Since March 2025, I’m the proud… Read More: The Outer Worlds from Switch to Deck »

I’ve got an old HP Revolve 810 G3 that I use for all those weird firmware updaters and other tools that require an actual Windows with actual USB ports. Nothing else. I’ve got Pi-hole running in a Docker container on my Synology DS415+ for several years now. No issues at all. Just 3 out of 5 stars. A few days ago, 7 years after he left that rating,… Read More: How To Delete Bad Google Maps Reviews »
My Journey Back in the mid noughties, I’ve acquired my very first GPS receiver and discovered GeoCaching. And it was a great hobby to have. There were various elaborate Multi-Caches and even the bog-standard “Traditional” Caches often were properly sized Tupperware boxes and contained exciting gewgaws. One memory I cherish was a box buried between… Read More: Alternatives to GeoCaching »
While Windows comes with the UK Extended keyboard layout and only needs a very simple adjustment to add the German ß letter, macOS doesn’t seem to have the layout at all. Sure, there are Apple’s ideas of the “perfect” British keyboard layout, namely “British” and “British – PC”. But neither one matches the actual UK… Read More: UK Extended keyboard layout in macOS »
Mastodon.social once was the glorious flagship instance for Mastodon. However, nowadays, it seems to be deep in control of German censorship. I’m running my own GotoSocial instance for a while now. A few weeks ago, I found this in my admin panel: Someone on mastodon.social reported me for supposedly supporting the German right-wing party. And… Read More: Mastodon.social shadowbanned me »
After I’ve now had the second device with some design flaw that causes it to fail just slightly outside of the warranty period, I wanted to write down my experiences.
